The Hale Cocoa Farm is a working farm featuring 2000 coffee trees, 1000 cocoa trees, 500 White Pineapple, and various Polynesian 'canoe plants.' This immersive chocolate tour on the Big Island lasts 1.5-2 hours, where we delve into Hawaiian plants, coffee, and pineapples before focusing on cacao and cocoa. Visitors will have the opportunity to open cocoa pods, taste local pineapples, and sip on delicious coffee varietals. The experience culminates in a tasting of 5-7 chocolates made from cocoa beans sourced from different regions of the Big Island. Hale Kokoleka, meaning House of Chocolate in Hawaiian, is set to become the flagship location of Puna Chocolate Company. This nearly 80-year-old building has a rich history, serving the Kainaliu community at the entrance of Southern Kona in various capacities, from a theater rehearsal space to a car repair garage. The true gem of the Hale Cocoa is the 14 acres of farmland in the back, which we have transformed into an 8-acre park for guests to explore Hawaiian agriculture and island plants. Here, visitors can participate in a coffee and chocolate tour in Kona, learning about Kona Coffee varietals such as Typica, Gesha, Pointu, Mokka, and of course, cacao!
